A nationally recognized Retailer in the adult beverage industry retained MDHCG to transform a struggling product division.  The division had experienced some degree of success, but volumes and margins seriously lagged those of its dominant sister divisions.

The project goals for MDHCG then, were fairly straightforward: Transform this Product Division into a sales and profit generator which would make it a successful sibling of the Retailer’s ‘Big Sisters’ now and in the future!

• The current environment was assessed, with a focus on Sales Skills, existing Management Reporting and the work processes employed to support Divisional sales efforts.
• Existing technology resources were evaluated and expanded.  Management Reporting was enhanced to better understand the potential sales climate.
• Inventory control processes were tightened and streamlined.
• Order procurement practices were enhanced.
• Shelf stock was re-positioned and the sales area upgraded.
• A ‘re-commitment’ to ‘Customer First’ and ‘Know Your Customer’ concepts was enforced.
• MDHCG was retained to operate the Division in a ‘Proof of Concept’ trial, acknowledging the various recommendations and implementing them.

The Results?

Over a 10 month period, sales were grown by 40%.  Gross Margins increased 37%.

Additional capital investment required to implement?

Zero.  That’s zip, nada, zilch, nothing.
